How to check size of the selected edge?

I had no luck with searching the forum so I started with a new thread.
Question may sound trivial, but it isn’t. (or maybe it is?)

With below example (it’s simple to help you understand my problem) I started with a basic plane - 2 units wide, 2 units high. Then I extruded one vertex, 6 units down.

How to check that this edge is indeed 6 units high?

Transform Properties in Edit Mode (both in local and global display) desn’t say so. In Object Mode it gives me only the whole size of ‘model’.

Is there a good, easy and fast way to get such an information? Counting it isn’t very good.

Thanks in advice.

In edit tools [F9] on the “Mesh Tools 1” tab there’s a button labled “Edge Length”. Click that and all the slected edges of a mesh in Edit Mode will display their exact length.

If you have a large number of edges the display can be very slow so you may want to be sure you have deselected all other edges.

What Marty_D said, plus to get accurate lengths, do Ctrl-A on the object in Object mode first to apply any scaling and rotations you’ve done.

Thank You! That little button was always there.

Thank you both so much!

hah, yes there are a lot of those buttons in blender.
