How to copy a shape key

I’ve checked tutorial after tutorial, I have scanned and analyzed the manual, I have sweated for hours on this issue. Yet, it does’nt work for me. Why?

According to everything I’ve seen, read and heard, copying one shape key to another should be a breeze. All you do is select the shape key you want to copy, turn it’s slider to 1, and click the + sign. This should give you an exact replica of the shapekey you’ve just copied, right? WRONG.

No matter what I try, the duplicated shapekey is NOT a replica of the copied shapekey. In fact it does nothing. Zilch. Zero. Niks.

Is there anyone out their that can please help me. I’m wasting time on an issue that’s supposed to be straight forward.

Thanks

Use the ‘New Shape Key from Mix’ option
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Animation/Techs/Shape/Shape_Keys#Shape_Keys_Panel

The + sign gives you a new clear shape, not a copy.
You must mute all the shape keys but the one you want to copy, then from the drop down menu on the right (down arrow icon) choose ‘New shape from Mix’.
