How to Correct/Finish this Character's Head?

Are there anythings that I need to correct? How should I finish? Other Advice?
Are there any things I need to change in preparation for animating? Especially Eye Area, will it achieve a nice blink?

This is how far I am… I still don’t know if I set it up for animation right, so if you could offer any advice or anything… I don’t like the shape of the head and I am having trouble re-shaping it to the correct shape… Any advice/suggestions would be great…

PS I had a little time this week to work on this; that is why I actually got some work done… I have a busy schedual so I’m probably not going to be able to work on it much and I will try to update this when I can and I will try to finish…

general proportions - eyeballs are fifths - they look a little narrow set. Temples and browline/ridgeline are not very pronounced. Looks like a young smart child, which is good if that is what you want. If not, reduce the size of the brain case and make the skull more…wedge shaped the term(?). As usualy, reference pics are indispensible here.

I have edited the shape of the head… I will do the eyes next, when I have some time to work on it… Will some one tell me about the setup for animation… Do I need more edge loops and where around the eyes to make them blink properly…

Maybe you’ll find a little “trick” I use now helpful … Select the vertices that make up the upper eyelid for an eye and then hit Ctrl-H -> Add New, Empty . Now tab into Object Mode and manipulate the empty . If you can close the eyes with just a couple of operations (lowering the empty and then rotating it a bit then key it open/close) then your eyelids work fine … You can do this for other facial drivers in you model while you are modeling . And it will either work or not … If it doesn’t then you may want to add more loops etc. or add more verts to the hook (just delete the hook modifier and repeat the above steps) . And when you are happy with the results either just delete the hook or keep it to animate later .

Another tip : when you create the hook also create a vertex group (something like eyelid_L) use can use these later to add to an armature etc. Actually doing this while you model in general will help in your work flow …

I changed the shape of the head… Again…
Also, what about all the other facial animation… The eye lids should be fine, but what about all the other facial animating stuff… I want it to be able to do alot of different motions… (I guess similar to the mancandy rig…)
I also am still unsure about the shape… I would like to get it to look similar to the style in the movie Meet the Robinsons (by PIXAR)…
What about the Poles and Loops? http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93651

I think you have a clean enough mesh for toon like animations … and no poles that I can see that will mess up your animation … And enough loops around the mouth … Just needs ears

And as for the facial expressions … Mancandy I think uses shapekeys with sliders … But like said if you want a slightly easier test setup just select say the the vertices that make up the brow for example and assign them to a hook and play with it … the same goes with any other parts of the face … just add to or remove vertices as needed … it only takes a second to add/remove hooks … and when you are happy with the results you can “bake” it to a shapekey and do that if you prefer …

Thanks, I appreciate all your advice and the help you have given me…
I’m going to be busy this week so I may not be able to update/work on this project… I plan to continue shaping the head and when I am happy with the shape I am going to model a body to go with it… Then texture, rig, and animate, etc…
Any advice on anything else would be great…
PS… Does anyone know of any better image hosting websites…

May I have some help with the ears? How should I approach modeling the ears… THANKS!!!

Also, how is the shape of the head? (I’m trying to get a cartoony look, almost close to that of PIXAR…)
