# Description

I’m trying to make a cylinder to support the base of a candlestick, but I can’t get it to look smooth.

## Current Status

I’ve made the base.

## What I Want to Make

Something like a church candlestick. Ultimately, I’d also like to make a base that goes under the table, like the one in this link,

but I’m starting with the candlestick itself.

## What I’ve Tried

I used the Subdivision modifier to create it,

but it ends up looking like whipped cream on a cake.

If you want this middle part separated then you may try to use no top nor bottom facers.. or add appropriate control edges.. also you have a lot of subdivision at the upper part fro no particular reason yet while there are missing some for the transition.

for the “bulbs” you may subdivide it later and use special selected rings while using proportional editing (sphere or inveres square) with individual origisn as pivot point.

Thank you.
How can I make the part of the tube look like a sphere?

If modeling is difficult, you can also connect shapes. (Use the same vertex for the contact)
To create good modeling, the process of manual revision is essential.

Alternatively, you can draw the cross-section as a curve and use the Screw modifier.
