how to create a new selection from a face in an existing model

I have been working in blender for a while, but I forgot the keyboard shortcut to make a selection a new object. Like if I have a face selected in an existing model and wanted it to be a new model.

Shortcut is P
Found in vertex menu (ctrl+v) -> separate
or in mesh menu -> vertices -> separate.
