Hello everyone, I got a non-tileable set of images (base color, roughness, normal etc - regular PBR set) and I want to cut a piece of it and turn it into tileable texture. How do I do it?
I know how to create a tileable texture out of an image, but how to retain cohesiveness between maps while tiling it? Please help.
The way I usually do it is using smart objects in photoshop:
1- stack all the textures together, and place them inside a smart object.
2- duplicate the smart object above the original one, and apply offset filter (50%,50%)
3- add a mask to the top smart object, and paint it with black in the middle cross area to hide the seams. Depending on the type of texture, you may need to use textured brushes to hide the transition.
4- Now you should have a texture that is seamless. You just need to change which layer is visible in the smart object , and export them one by one to get a complete and consistent set.
