I want to create a TV which presents a film inside a living room.
Lets say the TV is a simple cube, now my question, is it possible to texture one face of the cube with a movie (e.g. GIF animation, or AVI, etc).
An image texture is known to me, but is it possible to use a GIF animation (or other) as texture to have an impression of a movie running on TV?
you can texture with an AVI… on your texture window, just select your AVI as the texture… there is another panel “Anim and Movie” which can be used to change the settings.
Hello julesd-g6,
thanks for reply, I added now a *.AVi file as texture onto one face, but if I render my animation the movie does not run. The whole animation shows only the 1st image of the AVI movie.
So how do I make the movie running on the face during the animation?
Thanks for further help!
If you are using new RC1 Blender all you have to do after loading .avi is to click on “movie” (if it is not allready activated) and in the “Frames” field click on that little arrow. That will make your movie run normaly. If you don’t press it, avi file will be “compressed” in default 100 frames. Everything else can be left on default values to play it normally. Can’t remember how it was done in previous versions of blender but it was very similar to this.
Hope this helps
EDIT: Just did a check on version 2.42, just press that little arrow and that’s it. In new version it is not set to 0 but to 100
