How to create "realistic" slimy monster skin?

This is my first time branching out into organic modelling and I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice on making my material look like green slimy monster skin instead of the plastic toy it’s currently looking like? Cheers.

Just a guess (I’m a noob)… but a sub-surface scattering shader may be a useful component. Mix it with a glossy shader…?

Dan

Thanks, I’ll give it a go. I’ve not used that shader before.

If you want it to look really slimy, try layering the glossy: one rough (like you have or a little bit more), one very sharp (both mixed using fresnel).

Of course, multi-layer (or even single layer) SSS skin will help the effect as well.
