I am in the process of modelling this clawfoot bathtub. Can someone please give me pointers on the best way of starting to model the claws on the tub. Shall I start with some sort of box primative then subdivide? My modelling skills are in need of honing. The tub shape itself is easy enough.
You could start at the bottom with the shape of the bottom of the foot in the form of an empty string of vertices and edges, then extrude it upwards, adjust the size and rotation in side view, and with that row of vertices selected, go to edit mode, and click the ‘smooth’ button, until, by the time you get to the ankle, it should be round. That should give you a basic claw shape to work with.
Well, I’m not authorized to view this page without registering or something, so off the top of my head, I’d say use NURBS surfaces. If your claw foot is anything like what I’ve seen before, Nurbs should work beautifully. Happy Blending…
