So I’ve been getting into physics in Blender and such. I understand the basics of a rigid body and have used the cell fracture add on to destroy countless cubes across countless surfaces… but now I want to do something I could actually use in a movie I’m making. In the film, there’s a building over a cliff and a missile hits it and it falls in the cliff. How would I achieve this? I would rather not spend my time hand animating it because I thought physics could work pretty well (I’m also adding in a ton of smoke to mask out rough edges and stuff). So, let’s say I have a 3d model of an apartment building. It’s one object. How do I divide that building mesh into multiple meshes that can fall apart when the missile hits it? Thanks!
Be worth looking at the fracture modifier build of Blender.
I took a look at it. Honestly, I don’t like some of the minor interface changes in that build. Would there be an alternative to the fracture modifier?
I don´t think so. If you want to destroy things this custom build is the way to go.
Alright… I think I’ll just cut up the building by hand in edit mode. It’s only one building I’m destroying so
