How to do skin shaders in Cycles?

This has come up many times now… There is no SSS option in cycles… Is there a way to get a realistic shader in Cycles?

No, i have only general very slow half working experimental implementation (patch in bf-cycles mail list), almost suspended in favor of new flashy feature (mlt based render), in turn almost stopped because of… ok ok lazineess/stupidness. Maybe “developing” will boosted again in time AMD Catalyst 12 driver, rumors it will work with full feature Cycles with OpenCL on AMD hardware. Yes, it that bad, maybe some one else step up to finish/implement SSS?
