How to drive bone visibility ?

Hello,

I am wondering how to use a driver to control a bone’s visbility. I tried to do as I would with an object (right-click on the visibility toggle in the outliner, add driver) but there’s no such command… Who knows, I may have missed something. Any idea ?

Blender has layer system to control Bone visibility.

You can find bone layer under Object Data / Skeleton, Layer. Move bone to different layer in Pose mode, select the bone, hit [M], select layer. Different layer can be set to display just like object layer system.

Thanks Ridix. I know of the bone layer system but I thought there would be a way to override visibility without taking up an entire layer just for two bones. Seems like I’ll just have to deal with that ! Thanks !

There’s a bone visibility toggle which can be keyed / driven but not in outliner.

Properties > Bone > Display > Hide.
