How to Exclude Folders in Asset Browser?

Hello there.

I have a very unique file structure, as it is familar to when I use to use SFM as you can see below;

Is there any way to tell Blender to ignore “sdk_content” from this folder, as that contains literally hundred of .blend files as backups to each asset I’m making/made and not usable compared to the assets outside that specific folder?

As it currently stands it takes a good minute scanning through “usermod” which isn’t as snappy as I would like, and the browser is displaying 3 of same assets - 1 from the “final” location, 1 is the “final” backup and the other is the asset I would work on.

I know 1 way to go around this problem is to set a file path for “models”, “materials”, etc. But since I got 4 other folders with similar file-structures inside, and have that x4 times isn’t a very elegant solution and 1 I can would rather avoid… So I’m hoping you people have a different one.

Thank you in advance for your help! =)

bump? i need this

Simply “hide” your folders in your File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
Then uncheck the File Browser setting Show Hidden in Blender if you haven’t already.

Took me 2 weeks to get around to it but I’ve tried your solution. Had to to rename the offending folder with a ‘.’ in its name (so it’s “.sdk_content”) as I’m on Linux and it did the trick! I also had to remove the “asset” mark on the linked ones in a map that’s also under “usermod” as that was also causing doubles on certain materials…

It’s a little irritating that it has to be hidden in general for the Asset Browser not to find it, but it’s far better then the alternative. And considering all my assets for each section (“usermod”, “chibi_movies”, etc) can now be in centralised places instead of having a new path for each sub-section - I’m sure I’ll learn to live with the minor inconvenience!

So thank you for solving the problem for me! ^^

That’s a major inconvenience. If a windows user sends a zip of a project to a less experienced windows user who has not activated “show hidden” there will be confusion.

Considering the assets in question are private in-house ones that only I will have access to - it’s more of a minor one for my own scenario. And such I’m marking this riddle as “solved”. :sweat_smile:
