Hello today I’ve encountered the problem that I’ve been experiencing for years
posting this post to ask you guys if you have any smart idea how do you manage to solve this problem
What I want to do is simple
“I want to un-exclude all lower collection at once”
If you ask me why ? Let me tell you one short story
I do believe that most of people are having lower collections inside a collections.
(meaning that we are all using lots of sub collection inside a collection)
Sometime you’ll want to exclude the whole collection and sometime you’ll want to filter and exclude
some specific collection.
And this problem happens frequently when you exclude the whole collection and un-exclude the whole
collection back again ! All collection (higher, lower) should be un-excluded but blender only un-exclude the superior highest collection instead of un-excluding all it’s contained collections.
and to get my objects back I have to un-exclude all its lower collections one by one !
The situation is not critical when you have few collections but if you have many …
I’ve tried to hold down the Shift or Ctrl or ALT key while trying to exclude or unexclude the highest collection but no luck, blender seems not having the feature to
“Exclude all lower collections” or Un-Exclude all lower collections" yet…
I know one little tricky solution to solve this problem … It’s to duplicate the highest collection and it forces to un-exclude all lower collection but ! I don’t think this is the smartest idea do you guys have any better solutions ?
click does toggle the status of a collection for Disable Selection (Curso), Hide in Viewport (Eye), Disable in Viewport (Monitor), Disable in Render(Camera)
shift-click does toggle the status to the whole collection hierachy (sub elements)
ctrl–?? never used this ? Hmm what does it do ? isolate ??)
I’ve uploaded a short video for the better understanding
The problem occurs at 39 seconds of the video (I haven’t excluded them one by one,
I’ve excluded them all at once, and un-excluded them all at once
but all lower collection remain excluded)
I don’t think this is intended but I’ve experienced this several times even on past versions of blender
Okay i get it (not using collections too much myself). It seems that the toggling works in this way (example for hide):
Hiding a hierachy hides the complete hierachy in its actual state. That does mean if all is visible then its is hidden now. But if some subhierachies are already hidden then this state is remembered and unhiding just makes those elements visible which where visible before.
So if you want to make all subhieracrhies visible: enable the addnon Colllection Manager ( i just found out myself )… There is now a context menu for the Outliner with Visibility → Show all Iinside (and of course much more…)
