how to feed sequences into the compositor?

Hi,

I like to know if and how I can feed the output of the sequence editor into the compositor. I searched the forum but it seems it isn’t possible yet, hope I am wrong. Any ideas are most welcome, thanks in advance.

Hi,
You’ll probably haver to render it first, and import it as an image sequence.

I don’t use the sequencer much, only the compositing nodes.

He’s right on it. Too bad there isn’t a “sequencer output” image node, eh.

However, it could also depend on what you’re trying to do. What are you looking to achieve?

Add a ‘Scene’ strip to the sequencer, then enable the ‘Do Composite’, ‘Do Sequencer’ buttons, it should work, I just did a simple test and it works for me.

http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/RenderPipeline
"First a check is done for Sequence render, if so then it can bypass the entire 3D render pipeline, or - when Scene strips exist - it calls the 3D render pipeline per Scene, including a Composite. That’s how you can activate compositing in Sequencer now. "

thanks for the input guys.

mstram: I can’t get it to work as you have described. Could you make a little example scene (just with a pic to keep it small), that would be great. thanks

Bob

Here’s an example

I realy don’t know what combinations are possible, I first tried an alpa over in the sequencer, and another alpha over in the compositor, that didn’t seem to work.

I did get the Cross effect between the Scene clip and the Image clip of the playground picture to work with the compositor which is using an alpa over mixing the render output and an image. Probably not a really useful example :), but it shows that the two can be connected.

thanks mstram, unfortunatly this works not as I have thought. It only uses the sequencer output as background for the composite. You can’t apply any effect nodes to the sequencer output (0aplayground.jpg in this scene). The effect nodes only affect your 3D scene. Thanks anyway for trying to help. Guess I have to wait for another Blender update to make this work. In the meantime I will workaround with image sequences in the node editor.

cheers,
Bob
