How to go about modeling a mech for rigging?

hey how do u suggest i go about modeling a mech? for cinematics and movement

should i make each one piece

or make them all one

which would be optimal for rigging?

I make each movable piece an individual object and use parent to bone. You can also parent several objects to one bone, so there is no need to join the objects which have to move together. So basically you have a lot of freedom in the modelling process and still make the model work with an armature without any problem.
