How to import .dwg files in Blender?!

Im in a need of assistance - I have to make a few fast visualisations but Im stuck at file format incompatibility. Blender just doesn`t know how to import .dwg which is basically an industry standard…

So far I have managed to export the .dwg as Collada, but it damages the geometry, where were some nice rectangles now there are a bunch of triangles which makes UV Unwraping, therefore texturing a living nightmare.

Collada damaged geometry:

Any suggestions on importing DWG files or cleaning up Collada deformations?

You should easily uv unwrap those triangles.

You can convert selected tris to quads with Alt+J
Remove selected edges with X / dissolve

Have you tried exporting/importing as .dxf

Thank you for the help, much appreciated!

import dwg into sketchup7free and export .obj(free script avlbl) or import to doublecad/A9cad export as dxf(i am not sure abt 3d dwg).
