How to keep a point when subsurf mod is visible?

i’m using blender 2.79. I started this hair with one segment so far, and i put a subsurf on it (not applied). i knew it’d round the point, which is a problem. I need it to be a sharp point. i don’t plan on applying the modifier because this will be used for animation. is there a way to keep a sharp point?

Try the Mean Crease setting, N-Panel > Under the Item Tab…

You could add a support loop around the tip of the point using the knife tool.
