How to learn blender to create anime?!

Hi everybody.

In short, I want to make animations in a blender in the style of gametoons/one piece, and I absolutely do not know what structure to build and what to study. For a long time, I decided to start studying again and try to do something in blender.

I had a dream to create anime for YouTube. I want to make a real anime senen with fights and scale like in Dragon Ball and Gurenlagan. These will be fan animations with different characters from different universes.

I’m from Russia, so I communicate through a translator, I’m sorry if some words are spelled wrong or the context is different.

I tried to ask AI, but he said that my structure was supposedly normal and that nothing needed to be fixed or cleaned up or something small. I also talked on redit-type forums where they didn’t help me.

I still can’t figure out the final structure of studying blender exactly according to my style (gametoons/one piece), since I do not know which topics are needed and which are not.

I can’t figure out what I’m missing from the topics, I can’t figure out what’s superfluous on the contrary. And I also can’t figure out how much detail and depth I need to study the topic.

Please tell me what I should study (and in how much detail), what to throw out of the plan, and what on the contrary I do not know and it is worth adding:

  1. skyboxes

  2. texturing

  3. Ucupaint

  4. curves

  5. Linking objects

  6. Geometry nodes

  7. camera

  8. Sources light

  9. physics of objects

  10. blender features that speed up your work

  11. Tree modeling

  12. modeling of plains/mountains, creating terrain

  13. modeling of simple objects (such as weapons, bottles, basins, and other accessories)

  14. modeling of buildings/houses/apartments

  15. character modeling

  16. car modeling

  17. space object modeling

  18. special effects

  19. destruction of objects

  20. Cartoon outline

  21. destruction of planets, stars, universes and other cosmic bodies

  22. chopping off the limbs of characters

  23. Scale/Size changes for the camera

  24. speed (normal, light, sound) for camera

  25. Simple Animation

  26. Full animation

Please tell me what needs to be studied, what is superfluous and what should be added?! And where do I need to start the blender?! I’ve always had a fear of starting modeling because I always think that now I’m going to make a lot of models and then it turns out that they won’t be able to collapse. I want to create a real anime shonen alone, without investing money for free and do it On a regular basis and not burn out. How to achieve this result?!

Also, if it’s not difficult for you, can you answer two additional questions?

The first question:

How do I write the plots for my animations correctly so that I understand what to animate in blender, what to voice, and so that the series itself is understandable?!

How to write plots so that everything is clear and how to calculate the approximate length of the series even before its creation (the length of my series is 8-12 minutes)?!

What kind of program should I use to write stories? Where is it better to write on the phone or on the computer?

That’s how I write stories now:

  1. first, I lay out the series by scene and I write the approximate time calculated with a stopwatch, making a short plot of the series.

  2. then I write at the same time what needs to be voiced and what needs to be done in
    Blender

  3. Next, I write out all the dialogues.

It seems to me that I’m doing something wrong and somehow not writing the plots correctly, but what exactly have I violated?!

Also, my plots often turn out to be too long and uninteresting, how can I fix this?!

How to write stories?

The second question:

I can’t decide on themes for fan animation.

I have already selected some such as:

Minecraft

Roblox

SCP

But what should I choose for the full story?!

The problems are as follows:

  1. I can’t choose a theme because I like them equally (like Naruto and one piece) and I can come up with plots based on them in about the same way.

  2. it happens that I practically do not know the universe, but I want to add it (as with Naruto)

  3. it happens that something seems to slow me down to add a topic. I want to add one punch man, but I have some kind of fear, why does it arise?

  4. it happens that I like the character/ mechanics and not the universe itself, for example, in Powerpuff girls I like only the Powerpuff girls themselves…

Which theme should I choose?!

I’m standing between:

One piece (I started watching it, I liked it and I would like to keep it, I can think of many one-piece Categories)

Naruto (I do not know this topic, but I wanted to keep it for crossovers)

Powerpuff girls (cool girls, I’ll probably leave it)

One punch man (It is suitable for epic battles and for crossovers Kaguya vs saitama, IMU vs Saitama, but I do not know if it is worth choosing this theme)

Invincible (I would add along with one punch man)

Jujutsu kaisen (I will add this topic last)

Yes, I know that you need to choose topics based on how well you can come up with a plot and therefore how popular the topics are, but I come up with equally good ideas on all topics, and about popularity… I could come up with such interesting plots that popularity would not really play.

How to choose themes and what do you say?!

I also wanted to ask:

What sources of information should I use to study the blender for my style and where can I ask questions?!

Please answer these four questions. I really need your help and support!

Let me make this very easy for you.

Animation is done by large teams of specialized artists with collectively dozens if not hundreds of years of experience.

YOU CANNOT START AT THE END, YOU CAN ONLY START AT THE BEGINNING.

I understand that you want to be making animations at the level of those animations that have inspired you, great. YOU ARE 10 YEARS OF PRACTICE AWAY FROM THAT LEVEL.

I don’t say this to discourage you, I say it to pre-empt burnout. You have to start small and simple. Keep the ultimate dream in the back of your mind, but that is not what you are going to be doing any time soon. START SMALL, OR YOU WILL CERTAINLY FAIL.

You have a fantastic amount of work ahead of you.

I would download Goo Engine to get started.

Find a rigged character to play with at the start.
The BF has quite a few characters you can download and start with right away.

Check places where you can get assets to work with:

You can get stuff elsewhere too, like sketchfab.com, but that often requires a good bit of effort to make usable.

Start posing and working with lighting to see if you can get your characters to look good.

Next, start animating! Create small skits, lipsync with audio you record or get online, etc. Start with short animations and work your way into longer ones.

At this point the sky is the limit.

If you want to learn to make animation, you have to study animation - simple as that. Forget your list. Start there. You can look for books or video lessons about animation.

Right now you think you know what the options are, but you really don’t, so the list makes no sense.

Though I’m a fan of the anime style (it’s the only style I works towards in Blender), this topic has started with one of the most broad, how do i do most everything… lists that I’ve ever seen in a post.

@XYZ_XYZ : The internet has a wealth of knowledge out there for you to research and read, i suggest you start there.

You already have another thread filled with answers, which you might want to re-consult. So we’re not going to go for Round 2. As this thread has zero hope of actually answering all of your questions, I’m closing it. If you have a future question that is quite specific in nature, feel free to take another shot at Q&A.

Good luck.
