How to liquify stuff?

I’ve recently had an idea about making an intro, which would involve having a solid object liquify or melt down, so to say. I was wondering if this is possible in Blender, and how hard is it would be to do.

Use the fluid simulation

Here’s an example

Thank you very much for the tip. That guide is one of the better ones i’ve come across. I do have another question though. Much like in this video, my liquid is way too blocky. The maker of this video used “smooth” to lessen those a little bit, but to be honest it still doesn’t look anywhere near like a real liquid. How would i go about making it more “analogue”. Also, on a side note, are effects of the liquid metal quality from Terminator 2 possible with home computers now, or something like that is totally unrealistic to expect?
