Hello everyone. I need help. I hope one of you can find a moment to help me. I need to make an aluminum sheet in my project. I want it to be visible that it is aluminum sheet. It turned out just like in the first photo. I am not happy with the effect because it is so matte. i tried to move the stripes on the color ramp, change the hdri and move the lighting on the stage. it came out too dull or too reflective that you could see elements from hdri, e.g. a tree, and I don’t want that either. I want the effect to be like the pictures at the bottom. I tried to do yo aluminum differently, e.g. more brushed. I don’t want to give up, please help.
I’m new here and I can’t add more photos, so I add the effect I want to get
The problem is it doesn’t have anything to reflect.
Hello, Mila
I’d recommend to watch this one tutorial below:
Maybe it will help you.
But, if you want your material to be based on a texture image, you can find many of the free textures right here, but bear in mind that in that case you would need to know how to work with material texture nodes (p.s. it is not that difficult though)
Cheers
Its problem because i dont know how to make this sheet aluminium like on this photo ![]()
Thank you for movie i will try it ![]()
You’re welcome!
It’s not that difficult to achieve an aluminum shader ![]()
I think you just need to bring some ‘metallic’ look to it
Yes… thats its problem that i dont know how to make more metalic ![]()
AFAIK, HDRi could give only the light effects, the rest work is in the nodes. Means that at first you need to done your work with nodes, and then only work with HDRi and spot lights.
IMO, I think spot lights could give you more results than just using HDRi only
I try this from this movie but still its dont look like on this photo in post ![]()
What you meen work with nodes?
Try to do next things:
- Create a plane, add a material to it, some white color or closer to this one,
- Place that object on that plane,
- Add a spot light near of your object. (play between all 4 variations of spot lights until the final result will satisfy you),
- Add HDRi and play with its brightness
As I see, you need to understand how to set up the light spots in your scene. Try to watch this one video below:
In conclusion, I think, you need to adjust the light settings, impore your aluminum material and finally work with HDRi. So it would be a 3 steps work
Can i see your render result so far?
In the case of rendering metallic objects, it needs some “specific” lighting and environment setup, especially if you want to achieve the “clean product shot” feel, just like @Modron said:
It’s also true when photographing similar metallic products IRL, it needs a different lighting setup than photographing matte objects.
of course, thank you very much for your help so far and I will try it according to the instructions tonight and post again what I managed to get
My mistake, i’m not sure which one is your rendering and which one the reference.
So, your reply above is your rendering result, and the picture below is the result you want to achieve?

Can i see the top view of your 3D scene (including your camera, lights, and object placement)?
And also, it would be helpful if you also attach your blend file here if possible.
