This should really be in Off Topic, but anyway here is the recipe I used for my kids:
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1 T oil
1 T powdered alum
1/2 cup salt
2 T vanilla
food coloring
Mix all dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until reaching the consistency of mashed potatoes. Remove from heat and add vanilla and food coloring. Divide into balls and work in color by kneading.
im making this in blender
Doh!
Well if you want approximate physical simulation, you could probably use a fluid simulation with obstacles and extremely high viscosity, but this would be slow and probably not accurate. You would have more control using shape keys. Do searches on these here on the forums and at mediawiki.blender.org.
You could also possibly use softbodies…

Well, if you want to use a blender, just put in all the ingredients and turn it on…
You could perhaps use a lattice deformation, this achieves animatable effects like a jeanie squeezing out of a bottle etc.
Doh!
That was funny.
One other possibility would be metaballs.
Of course, depending on the shot, you may want to use several different approaches. Make sure you’ve got them all set to the same material and you can switch methods as the shot requires.
Hi!
Have you tried deforming a potato mesh (subdivided and subsurfaced sphere or cube) using SculptTool, Proportional editing and Shape Keys ?
