How to make this in blender?

So I saw this on twitter and i thought it was pretty cool and was wondering how to make it in blender

it seems straight forward, plane > displacement > wireframe modifier, but how do i have lines be only in one direction? do i use a material to mask out the lines i don’t want?


Instead of a plane with wireframe modifier, I would start by creating strip lines (with a plane scaled to almost zero on one direction, and an array modifier)
And then use the displacement (In 2 directions, vertical, and allong the strip lines)
