how to measure volume of mesh?

hi, i’m trying to use a 3d printing service, and they charge by volume of material used, so i would like to measure the volume of the mesh,
i tried this add-on which it claimed to be able to measure volume of mesh, but it did nothing to me.

Go to User Preferences / Addons, and type in ‘print’ in the search field.
Activate the 3D Print Toolbox.
Select your object and press ‘Volume’. This should give you the accurate volume of the object.

Sorry, maybe a not too clear, my text above:

After activating the addon, close User Preferences (or Save User Settings first if you want to keep the addon activated for later blender sessions).
In 3D View / T-bar, select 3D Printing, then … see above.

Also, you can check out Netfabb Basic. It’s a tool recommended by Shapeways to make sure your mesh is ready for printing. While I’ve had mixed results with making sure the parts are thick enough, the scale to volume works fairly well, and the volume it has and the volume shapeways has are pretty close. I’ve noticed quite a bit of difference in taking a file straight from blender, but going through netfabb, I’ve had a little better results.

you don’t need an addon. just a simple script: https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/63113/is-it-possible-to-display-volume-of-a-mesh-object/283612#283612
