I have recently started with Blender and would like to deepen my pathetic knowledge by modeling the hull of a motor yacht .
Which method do you think is the most comfortable and efficient way to create a hull?
I read about ‘skinning’, which seems to be done by connecting the shapes of several sections of the hull.
Your feedback is most appreciated.
when we talk about Skinning is something different. Skinning is weighting a meshobject to an armature for deformation animation… well basically explained.
nevertheless the technique you look after is called skinning too.
You find a nice tutorial exactly for a ships hull in the offical blender 2.3 guide Part II.07 crves and surfaces.skinning - page 143-145 or simlply click >HERE<
I would start with a bezier curve for the centerline, a few more in parallel to define the shape of the hull, convert them to a mesh, connect the dots, mirror, and go from there.
