How to model a trumpet?

I would like to know how to model an accurate trumpet.

all the curves make it hard…

I have a very basic thing, but it looks pretty unrealistic.

i like trumpet a lot, and i want to model one!

THANKS!!!

PS: I play trumpet.

i would probably do it by using i refereance pic like this one (or take a pictur of your own

and trace it

I would say familiarize yourself with the spin and warp capabilities. They are invaluable when modelling curvy objects.

When I was modelling my trumpet about two years ago, I used the spin dup, spin, etc. options a lot. I had my trumpet right by my computer for reference as well. Having a picture is great, but having the real thing means you can achieve the closest as possible to perfection.

so what exactly would i use warp for, and what does it do?

Warp does what it sounds like it does, it warps the mesh, i.e. bends or shrinks it proportionally. For stuff it does, take a look at this:

http://www.blender3d.org/documentation/htmlI/x3082.html

It can help get the rings (pinky and interpipe supports) to fit to the roundness/contours of the pipes.

For example look at this recent post:

Hope that explains a little bit better.
