Hi, I am trying to animate a sphere to spin with a logo on each side, so that when the sphere does a 180 spin the animation starts over, looking seamless. I have tried UV unwrapping as a Smart UV, and adding a texture, but when the sphere spins the logos aren’t aligned perfectly. Any advice?
You could map half of the sphere, then delete the other half and use a mirror modifier.
The texture will then be the exact same on the other side.
If you have other textures on the sphere that you dont want to be mirrored, create a new UV slot and unwrap the mesh again.
You can then use the original UVmap to map the logo texture, and then the new UVmap to map the base textures
Edit: remember when using mirror modifier that the objects origin must be inline with the outer most loop of the half sphere. As the object origin is what blender uses as the pivot point of the mirror modifier
You could make 2 separate vertex groups (same size and shape) on opposite sides of the sphere, unwrap the groups, and assign the groups the same material.
set transparecy and lower the opacity of the object, view as material and you should be able to see both sides, proceed to paint and alight the stencyl to the other side
