How to reduce face count?

Hello, I am currently making a game and I found this very cool tutorial for making stylized hair

They look great but the only problem is that the face count is atrocious

It may look good for renders but isnt ideal for games. Does anybody have an idea on how to reduce the face count? That would be awesome.
Thank you.

You can either do manual retopo or just use the decimate modifier. Remeshing is also an option you could explore

i’d have to do it on dozens of meshes but i guess that could work

The hair he is making is with Curves, which means it is highly editable:

join all the curves to one object, and go to the curve settings menu to determine the resolution, then convert to mesh.

If the mesh is still to high, use the remesh modifier

Also I recommend exploring hair cards, that is another efficient way to make hair for video games.
cheers.

If you haven’t converted the hair curves to a mesh yet, you could also try adjusting the curve resolution in the curve settings to optimize them for real-time. Just be aware they might end up looking slightly blocky. If you already combined all hair curves into a single object and converted them to a mesh, I’d recommend starting with the decimate modifier and maybe try unsubdivide with a factor of 2

Hi.
You might want to use the Qremeshify add-on:

Also: Make it low poly from the start ??
