How to remove image files?

I am no noob to Blender, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to remove an image file from a blender file.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to do this. What I mean is, when I go into the image editor, and pull up an image, and I don’t want to scroll through the whole list of images I’ve created, but instead, want to delete one or more, I can’t figure it out. They are always there with the file.

Can anyone please explain how to do this?

Thanks,
Mike

You have to shift-click in the X button in the image editor, next to the image name box. Then that datablock is marked to be deleted in next save. So save the file, reopen it, and the image name is gone. Tada!

Thank you, you are a genius for solving a problem that’s been bugging me for years.

I appreciate your help.

Mike

Thank you! I have tried to find this for a long time. Little things can drive a newbie like me nuts.
