Hello,
I imported a step file into my scene using the Stepper plugin which works very well. The problem is that we can see a separation line on the mesh which causes a break in the chrome reflection.
Is there any way to fix this without having to retouch the mesh by hand?
Thank you for your help!
Hello,
Can you, please, show that seperation line? I just don’t see it.
Yeah, I got it.
Are you sure that is a truly reflection instead of just a bake texture? Seems to me like it probably the second one.
If so, you could try to take one of the edges and just try to move it a bit up. So your work here’s probably about aligning the texture.
Hope it helps you
Also you can check out about having your model an UV mapping simply by going to the “UV Editing” section. If so, it will be much easier for you to do this, if you already know about UV mapping
ok I’m going to look at UV mapping
thx
Just for information, here is the texture

Is that all the materials you have, right?
yes
And there is only this object on the scene lighted by an hdr background
Go to edit mode and check the “UV editing” tab. Do you see something there?
Worth to check if the normal are all pointing to the same direction.
Thank you
I’m going to learn how to do this
Seems to me like you have a broken textures or something like that.
If there’s no any textures for that model in UV, probably, you downloaded a bad one model. You can try to recalculate the normals by pressing SHIFT+N in edit mode.
If that model that you’ve downloaded - is a broken one, I think, the best way is to download a good one instead of fixing this broken.
As I said in my first message, you can try to move edges/faces to try to align it. That’s not the right/best way to do this, but you could try at least.
Unfortunatly, no restults with merge at distance
