How to repeat a small texture on model

I unwrapped the neck region of this model and would like the texture on the left to appear properly. However I only see a small piece of the texture no matter how I scale the UV unwrap …



When I set the image texture to repeat the texture appears how I want it on the neck and cuff but extends to the rest of the mesh. How do I avoid this? What am I doing wrong?

Simply after setting it to repeat you need to assign the rest of the mesh to another material , go to the material tab and add a new material , select the neck then click W and select " select inverse " so you select everything except the neck , then assign that part to the new material … hope i solved your problem

Thanks, that fixed it. However I’m confused why I’d need to assign an additional material. Could you please elaborate quickly WHY that is necessary?

Well , i think because blender count the single material as a WHOLE one for your WHOLE mesh , since there is only a single material then your whole mesh will use it , because you can’t assign part of a mesh to a material and leave the rest . One material one mesh to use , more than one material more assign options .
