How to retopologize an organic model?

I currently have a model that is made up of alot of triangles that are all over the place. I’ve tried Instant meshes but it doesen’t work since it wouldn’t draw the lines that would make the edgeflow, this is just a wireframe of only a part of the whole human body. Manually retopologizing it seems hefty considering that I want to keep alot of geometrical detail that might be saved from baking later on and the fact that it’s a ton of work. Maybe there is another way?

Have you seen this…

It gets stuck at 50% when I try to reduce my 700,000 triangle-face mesh to 100,000, it also rips holes when I do reduce it to about 60,000.

Algorithmic retopology is unfortunately not that great. you may end up having to do retopology manually, if you do need to, make sure to download retopoflow from github and give it a try, its a really great addon.

As for keeping geometrical detail without spending ages drawing loads of tiny quads, maybe try using multiresolution/subdivision and shrinkwrap so you can draw out a fairly low poly retopo and just subdivide it to the amount of detail you need.

Thank you! Great addon and I think baking would be really helpful too!
