How to rotate view around 3D cursor, while Symmetry works via the mesh's origin?

View menu - align view - centre view to cursor. Symmetry axis should be separate.

That didn’t work.

What finally worked for me was: View – Align view – Lock View to Active (eyeball) in Object mode.

Then I was able to select the mesh, switch to Sculpting mode and let symmetry work on the mesh while rotating on the origin of the object the view was locked on.

It would be more efficient though if that function was accessible without switching modes.
