How to save screencast keys addon setting?

The problem: I use screencast keys addon when I am recording videos. But the addon is not able to save the setting to the startup file. Every time when Blender crashes during the session, I need to remember to click the button again. And that happens about 2 times per session in my system. So this leads to a weird problem that I actually can’t always remember to click the button. I think I am not the only one with the problem. Now I have people in my channel asking me if I would use the screencast keys addon. And I really am trying, but the hecking tool won’t co-operate with me…

So I already know that it is impossible to save the setting with that addon. But I think it would be very easy to do feature for some experienced programmer. And here on this forum is many of you who can do this. Please. For the love of tutorial makers. If some would use few hours to develop a fix to this problem, I would love him!

Here is a link to the addon:

Or if someone knows some other solution for this problem since screencast keys is not anymore officially supported addon. Now I am little lost. I have tried very hard to find an alternative without any good luck. Someone even linked to a malware site in one blender forum and said that there is a good tool for this. eh.

Just because I felt like. I spent several hours reading online, messing around, and got this working. There’s is one thing to note. If you want to end the screencast you have to click the operator button like 3 times to end it(Not sure why). After that one click it starts and one click it ends. For whatever reason, I was testing on 2.76b and it worked fine starting a new blend file ,but not on blender startup. I decided to test with 2.78a and it works fine on blender startup and starting new blend file. Must have a addon interfering with it on 2.76b.

File screencast_keys_auto_enabled.zip (7.17 KB)

In addon preferences click auto enabled and save user settings.

I set the screencast settings the way i wanted them, and then saved the untouched blender project as a new startup file. Screencast is now set the way I want it. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much it works.
