How to select polygons by clicking and dragging, not box or lasso

I just started learning Modo, and my only other 3D programs were Lightwave and Modo about ten years ago.

I could almost swear on my life that yesterday I was playing around in it, and I was selecting polygons/faces the same way I had done it in Modo, by clicking one, pressing Shift, and then moving the pointer around like “painting” the selection I wanted.

But today that seems to be gone, and I figured that a quick search online and in the manual would remind me how. But after one hour or two of doing just that, I’m starting to think I imagined it and the only ways to select faces is by box, circle or lasso, or Shift click every single face I want to select.

Did I imagine this?

Top of the toolbar, click/hold so that it expands, choose Tweak.

If I do that, I click and drag and it messes up the polygon.

The circle select is the closest I can see to that behaviour, just make the circle small and paint away.

That was it!! Good to know I’m not crazy yet, and thank you sir!!

And if you want some more information about the Circle Select, here you go:

Keyboard shortcut C
Mouse wheel up to make your selection circle bigger
Mouse wheel down to make your selection circle smaller
To remove from your circle selection, click and drag with MMB

Have fun!
