I’ve modeled an entire figure that will ultimately be converted into a 3D printed model. This 3d mprinted model will have movable arms, head, etc.
How do I successfully separate the arms and other parts from my complete figure in preparation for making them 2mm thick and 3D printable? Or, is it better to make the thickness before I even cut up the figure? I need to have clean edges that will perfectly align together afterward when the 3D printed parts are completed.
Is there a tool like the KNIFE tool that I can use to cut my figure at the right places to separate the parts?
Of course, I know I can dissolve edges between various parts, but that will create gaps and then the finished parts won’t fit snugly once they are made.
Should I make doubled knife cuts and try to separate the parts that way??
I’m used to using RHINO, in which you can save SELECTED parts of a piece, and then work on them individually. In Blender is there a way to save selected parts of a figure and not the whole figure?? That would allow me to separate the figure along my chosen dividing lines and then have independent pieces to work on.
