I have downloaded

however the vertices did not change the color to yellow or purple in EDIT mode. Everything I could find is only the black lines, so I could not judge which vertex is selected and which is not :< . But the color is ok on Blender2.28c and tuhopuu-2003-09-06-windows. What’ wrong? 
if this is first time you run these new tuhopuu builds, pull down the “i” window on top, and go to the GUI theme options… you can change colors and vertice sizes there. you can actually set the whole GUI coloring to something else.
after you are done, save default settings (ctrl-U)
by default, these vertice colors are black. dont know why.
