How to stop the building from falling below the plane when it explodes?

I’m following this tutorial:

He runs into the same problem, and describes how he solved it at 13:57, but that doesn’t seem to work for me.

I’m also having trouble with the next part of the tutorial starting at 14:33. When I try to to break up part of the building into smaller peaces for a more detailed explosion. First of all, when I add the new quick effects explosion I get a “already has a partial system” error. I’m assuming I just need to delete the old particle system, but even after I’ve done that, I can’t seem to add any additional number of peaces to the emission. No matter how high I make it, it stays the same.

If you apply the scale of all your objects, and also increase the Solver Iterations value in the Scene panel > Settings, it will work better
