How to turn a simulation frame into an editable mesh?

How can I take a specific frame out of a simulation and turn it to a permanent mesh that I can edit? for example, if I take a frame out of a splashing water, how can I export it as an object by itself?

Alt-C converts it the fluid object to a mesh that is then editable.

Actually in blender 2.5 you can just click on the Apply button in the modifiers section :smiley:
