how to undo

I have been using control Z to “undo”, but unfortunately there seems to be
lots of stuff which control Z fails to undo…

I often do something unintended, and it sometimes is a thing of which I
am unaware of having done – except for the catastrophic effect whatever
it was had on my work!

So, how does one undo some mistake when one does not know the precise
details of what the mistake was? Is there some super-duper version of
control Z which simply, absolutely, no ifs-ands-or-buts undoes whatever the
last command was?

Thanks

Hmm…Control+z should do it…Make sure you’re in the same mode as when you made the mistake (i.e. edit mode when you made the mistake in edit mode).

Sorry I couldn’t be of further help.

EDIT: Post 300!!! W00t!

Here is a concrete example: somehow the grid changed, but control Z did
not restore it to its previous state.

Another example: somehow I managed to remove all, but control Z would not
bring all back again.

A third example: somehow my two-dimensional drawing underwent a central
inversion (equivalent to some rotation in a higher dimension), but control Z would
not restore the orientation.

There is more, but I don’t remember in my current stressed state, and I
have no clue as to what I did, what “mode” I was in, or how to undo it.

Now I am in panic mode, saving after every command, since I do not understand
how it is possible to undo previous commands.

Any help appreciated.

yeh it depends on the mode your in - or seems to be - but if you make a mistake in object mode and your in edit mode and press ctrl z it effects object mode - somethin like that!!
