How to use Mesh Deform when Rigging multiple-object part

Hi all,

I created a buzz model, which has multiple objects in each part of the body. When I created a simple rig, the foot part gets all messed up when I’m trying to move it in pose mode (every mode though). I just assume I should use a mesh deform cage over all the object parts of the foot, but I can’t seem to find any similar cases, and I don’t know how.

You’re running autoweights on an object made up of multiple, disconnected meshes, right? Autoweights don’t work well on that. Paint manually.

You don’t have to use a mesh deform cage. You can if you want. Make a single manifold model that encompasses the model-- nothing sticks out. Weight to the rig, and autoweights ought to work better since it’s a single manifold mesh. Create mesh deform modifiers and bind.
