How to use Position Pass in native Blender Compositor?

Hi, so i want to replicate technique from Nuke & Fusion of controlling position pass like the reference below, but instead its inside Blender itself. Since it does not clear of what node tool to use XYZ. It seem almost no one discuss about it.
Appreciate the time, thanks

Could you explain what exactly you are trying to do? Some people here can probably help you but don’t know Nuke.

There is a current work project on character, but it might helpful when rendering several passes, i can use position pass for adjust lighting or put image plane adjustment by creating mask in world position placement in surface even after render so no need to rerender. Similar like this (with timecode)

or this

But using Blender instead on Fusion or Nuke. While i do know how to use it in Fusion, just wondering if i can do directly on Blender Compositor tools.

The node you are looking for is called Distance Key

For the “Position Pass” create a Material with the Geometry/Position node and make sure the values are within the RGB valid values.

Oh @lqppro, that’s clever workflow by using color key as manipulate the area as mask! I’ll try first.

Also, for shader, i can do via Shader AOV output then using it as passes as well.

Thanks!

Much better :+1:
