how to use rigify on a .dae character

I am using makehuman to create the characters for my scene and exporting them as .dae files, then I import them to blender, the problem I am having is, I added the rigify bones and lined them all up but how do I skin the bones to the character, all the websites that I read say to use the mesh but all I have are the different parts of the character.

Any help is appreciated!

Why do you export as .dae files ?
Why not use the .mhx format ? (this export format gives the option to ‘Export for Rigify’)
Have you tried exporting the file out of makehuman with a rig rather than use rigify to rig afterwards ?
