How to use the Multires modifier to make game assets?

I’ve been playing around with the multires modifier to make some environment rock assets for a game. While it looks promising, I’m having trouble trying to figure out a good workflow for baking it out to a lower res model.

So I start with a low poly model with good topology and a uv map. I add a multires, subdivide it a few times and sculpt in my rock details. I then add a material to it with textures for normal and depth and use the multires option in the bake settings to render out these maps.

I’m a little stuck on what to do next. My base mesh now has both the Multires modifier and a material that is using normal and depth maps to fake what the multires is doing on the lower poly base mesh. How do I export this? I want to export the low poly base mesh with my baked material maps, but right now it also has the multires modifier on it.

Hi, you should be able to delete the multires and be left with the baked maps.
Make sure you saved the baked map images.

Okay, but I would like to also keep that data in case I need to do more sculpting and bake again. Is there a non destructive way?

Save the file as with and then save another file without.
