How would I add text over a material with a texture?

Hi all. I’ve got a simple problem (and a simple mind to match).

I would like to put some text on my model.
I want the material and texture on the faces underneath to show between the letters.
What would be the best way to do this?

Can I use an image of the text that has an alfa channel?

Thanks for your time!

yes you have to ways

first save an alpha channel to a .tga file and than load the textur and click on the “UseAlpha” button in the textur buttons “F6”

or

save the picture as a .jpg an paint all the range you will mask black
than load the textur and click on the “CalcAlpha” button in the textur buttons “F6”

the “NegAlpha” button flip the alpha mask

I hope this help

Ok cool! Now I can apply the image with an alfa channel to a face.
Thanks monocult.

Is there a way to add a noise texture to the same face as well?

Ok yes there is, to answer my own question.
Add one material to the object then add two textures each in a different texture channel.
