Even if S’MIC was to get up to speed with the latest in fab technology (to make their new GPU’s competitive), why would you want to have them in your machine after the revelations regarding Tiktok (one of their big tech. products) being Malware?
How would we know that Huawei’s drivers won’t install things like keyloggers and other things to send everything on your machine (including your passwords and photos) to the CCP headquarters in Beijing? China is known as a nation that can and will weaponize everything under the sun, so it is not so much whether their GPU’s can push the frames, but rather whether they are actually safe to use.
Maybe so, maybe not. I’m not going to apologize the CCP, but on the other hand, exactly how different does Washington’s National Security Agency behave last we’ve heard?

The biggest malware of all is Made Wholly In America - Android.
The only reason that this gains traction is due to the RISC-V architecture.
Is well known that Intel struggles with performance bottlenecks and CPU evolution, for the last 10 years makes really slow progress. Their CPUs are indeed powerful but too expensive at the same time (note the temperature and power consumption as well).
AMD has only one purpose to catch up with Intel, but aside of that no great ideas as well. It has achieved this to a good extent, kudos to them. But now we talk about much better thinking.
One company that did great innovations was Apple with M1 and M2 CPUs this is indeed next gen stuff. But their case is very special because all of these innovations are combined with special computer programming (eg: Photoshop + dozens of other software had to be rewritten in some parts to expoit these CPU capabilities best and squeeze better performance to be equivalent to an Intel i9 for instance). So you are not able to evaluate the CPU in general terms, other than inside the closed-platform of Apple that is, you have only one device that works out of the box and that’s it.
And now what else you have? Probably nothing, other than to just wait for another 10 years until some Youtuber bakes their own CPU from their garabe or something and hopefully be better for their worth.
So now the entire point in everything, is to consider how the RISC-V will evolve and what it would offer. This is the great crash test to settle the score for me.
