Human proportions (nudity)

Very nice, clean sculpting on that skull!:RocknRoll:

My first homework! lets see what Rafa Souza has to said about this:

Perfect teeth, perfect smile, heĀ“s the dry dream of all the skelletonladies! #Skellohunk

Ou Yeah! I have to made some female skulls!!!

great skull man !! very nice job !

A quick test without references just after seen the week 2 videos of the course:

Thanks Malhomsi!
I waiting for Rafael Souza to make some corrections and then I think Iā€™m going to finish it!

Looks very nice my only crits would be perhaps to look at the cheek bone area, how the lips are wrapping around the mouth cylinder and the nasolabial fold

Thank You Tyrant monkey! I try to fix your suggestions, but I think the mouth and the nasolabial foldā€¦ is not good enoughā€¦ I cant seem to fix it.

The way I see it, all you need is better reference (both noses and mouths):

And if you want to bring it to the next level, work on the neck (It will feel like a magical overall improvement of your sculpt, if you do):

even on incredibly muscular men the traps thin out significantly halfway from the top of the scapula to the back of the skull:

@PixelPete!! Very nice references! Thanks!
I did some modifications, and a quick material and render.
The main problem is that I did just a practice, with out references, and then I like itā€¦ But I have to stop working with out proper references.

Awesome progress on the face!!

Yeah. My experience is: From imagination you can only come so or so close to what you can do from reference. Ergo: You have to be very very accurate from reference in order to be decent from imagination. Ergo: To improve quickly, become great at working from reference first AND learn all the names of the landmarks and repeat them constantly loud or in your head while youĀ“re doing it so you remember them when you scupt from imagination. (You can also give them custom names, it doesnĀ“t matter as long as you remember that those landmarks exist) I always think of the skull studies I did way back and when I feel like I forgot something, I do another skull study.

You probably know all this. In that case it might be useful for all the great people who visit your thread and want to improve

Give this mans forehead (eyebrow ridge) a little more love, work on the neck and he will look very very good!

Tip for you: Get rid of the detailing of the mouth and the skin even for rendering purposes! It distracts you from seeing the shapes, makes them look ā€œbetterā€ (more interesting) than they are and if you canĀ“t see your mistakes clearly, because your mind tells you, it looks interesting, you wonĀ“t be able to improve on them! My personal rule of thumb: Never detail an unfinished study!

@PixelPete! You rock! I almost know everything you tell, butā€¦ you knowā€¦ I keep doing it the wrong wayā€¦ (also the anatomy is my strong part, but sometimes you can know every single name and related physiology and clinical pathology, and not know how to use that knowledge for sculpting or paintingā€¦ with is my caseā€¦)
I did some modifications, not extreme, but based on your references, and the things I already had:

A quick render:

Amigo ! u r improving every single day here ! i m not very good in portrait ! so i can give u technical feedback , but for me each sculpt seems better than the previous ! and i m enjoying this thread a lot !

Thank you malhomsi! I try to improve, but Iā€™m really fare from what I aiming for. Someday maybe hehe.
I have to start my homework for the course, so maybe tomorrow I have something else to show, This last one was just for fun!

YouĀ“re getting there, my man! The changes you make as of last are stps in the right direction, but very minute. (Also youĀ“re breaking symmetry way too soon. When you do that, you have to correct all your mistakes on both sides sepperatelyā€¦ that isā€¦ twice! It makes for good exercise I suppose, if youĀ“re a selfpunishment type of guyā€¦ )
Whenever I catch myself fiddling around, making babysteps, I know, IĀ“ve fallen too much in love with what IĀ“ve got and thatĀ“s really bad for artistic development, because as we all know; love makes people blind towards the mistakes of the ones who the love is directed towards! IĀ“d start a new bust or even two very different ones at the same time and come back to this one later with a fresh eye.
Wellā€¦ whatever you do; with your attitude, itĀ“s pretty clear, you will rule. Unclear is: will it be monday or tuesday? When will you rule, Elvis? :RocknRoll:
IĀ“m looking forward to what you show us next!

@Pete! Yesā€¦ as always you hit the target! I really appreciate your input! I am discovering that I have a good something for sculpting, so I keep falling in love with what I do, so I am always afraid that I will breake what I already didā€¦ so I donā€™t change or go as wild as I shouldā€¦ I have to be more confidentā€¦ and start doing some serious work, and not just get stoned for what I can do (I never thought I can do this thingsā€¦ ) but that is limiting myselfā€¦

The next one will be more on the good reference type, and looking without interpretingā€¦ and trying not to go in automatic observationā€¦ I will try! And I hope I donā€™t get in love to soonā€¦

Please! keep hitting me with your wonderful critics! you are the one that rule, for sure!

Wellā€¦ after a long long creative blockadeā€¦ nothing was working for me. I thing I get my mojo backā€¦ or at least something. So I need help! as much criticism as you can get me! This is for my second homework.

hey amigo ! whatā€™s up
again iā€™m not the best when feedbacking portrait ! it looks ok for me , but ok is not what u aiming for i think
anyway something seem wrong in the neck ( trapezium maybe .? )
@PixelPete ; reading ur comments is a real pleasure man !
