Hyundai Coupe (2002)

I’ve started my new project. This is the new model of Hyundai Coupe or Tiburon if you like. I’ve had many problems with the basic shape, because the blueprints weren’t exact.

Give me some tips. I would really like to hear some C&C. I don’t know what to do next. Help me please.

it’s looking amazing, i’m envying your modelling skills, I also recently started making a car(http://blender.sixmonkeys.geek.nz/albums/superman/step7.jpg)
right now the inside seems more reflective than the outside, i advise that you remove all reflection settings for your current renders, and just concentrate on moddelling then once it’s looking almost completed try using yafray and an hdr world image( if you don’t know what i’m talking about google: blender hdr tutorial)

Thanks for commenting. This material was just for test render. I’ll add materials when i finish modeling. Any suggestions what to do next?

wheels, then glass & head lights, then seats, then interior tidbits

I think I’ll model the wheels at the end. I’ve made glasses. The material is not final yet. I think i’ll need many help modeling the lights. I have no idea how to start. Could you help me? Here is render with glass:

Nice modelling so far, the next step should be to give the car panels some thickness and give the car pillars volume. Work on the edges of the door and roof so the glasses have something to keep them on.

Post a wire so we can see the topology of the mesh.

Here is a wire:

Perfect wire… now stop posting here, and finish this car!

Ok … the wire looks OK so far. The weel arches could use a bit of rounding.
I’ve looked at some Hyundai coupe pictures on the net and there are some “flow lines” on the sides that you need to add to your car.

Here is a new render with tires. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this:

And here is my render:

you know it amazes me to see people make such beutifull things with blender, thats a nice model, i do have a question for you though i just recently started modeling a copy of my ih scout i figured this would be an easy one to start with because its so well cubeical but there are some curves to the front fender and i cant seem to get it right without makeing it look like there is a dent, so my question is do you have any tips on how to keep this from happening? i am not trying to hijack your post i am just curriose because you show skill in your model. thank you.

I didn’t have much time last days so i used blender in school but not that much  Here are two new renders:

Great model… keep up the good work.

I still don’t know how to make lights. Can someone give me any tips or something :frowning: :expressionless:

Help anyone? :frowning: :frowning:

I would love to help you but I have never tried car modeling so what I am going to tell you is just an idea.

I would model the outer plexiglass panel. For the front they are transparent but not completly and the Back’s are Red and some part white and orange (for the different lights). Then add the lights inside. They should all be white, the color of the plexiglass changes the color. Model the support for the light bulb and maybe the reflective cone around the lights that reflect the light toward the outside.

And for best reference…get up…go to your garage…turn on the light…go near your car (or your parents) and look at it…

I am sure finding a real car is not to much trouble for you :stuck_out_tongue:

My friends suggested me, to make a back light with a bump texture. I’m using this texture:

And this is what happend:

Without you telling us what you’re texture settings are, we can’t really do much for you. However, here is what I came up with from your texture:

http://darkabstraction.com/blender/carLight.jpg

And here’s the blend for that, should you want it: http://darkabstraction.com/blender/carlight.blend.

Here’s how to recreate the setup:

  1. Make sure your viewport is in orthographic mode and switch it to top view.
  2. Center the 3d cursor in the viewport and create a plane.
  3. In object mode, rotate the plane by 90 degrees over the y-axis.
  4. Adjust it to how you want it to look.
  5. Using the basic “New Material”, load a new image and make sure you set it to “Clip” (instead of “Repeat”).
  6. Refer to my material setup in the blend if you get stuck.

Good luck,

imho you’re better off getting a high resolutio photo of the real thing and uv map in onto there.
