I just noticed various entries of the Blender Guru competition on the finish work thread. So im posting mine too :yes:

this is the first image i have done in Blender, and almost the first project I have ever finished. I guess Andrew’s tutorials really got me into blender and this competition gaveme the motivation that I needed to make an entire project. so thank you very Much Andrew.

Im aware of the errors on the textures especially the octopus. and some mistakes a had with the lights but please feel free to critique cause I am going to finish it when I have the time.

Composition and movement are really cool.

The textures and displacement look a little low res and soft…, fore-ground too sharp.

This could really do with some depth of field to integrate all the elements together nicely.

Composition and movement are harder things to get right though so well done!

thanks Michael W, I tried to do the depth of field in photoshop, I think thats what it looks too soft.

gat19g, Thanks I’m glad you liked it. yeah i think the Depht of field dint turned out right. anyway, this is the result i got using only the compositor.

Well I would adjust the Fstop because some of those foreground corals don’t really need to bee in view that much. IT really depends if the octopus is suppose to be the focal or the scooba diver looking at it.

Really nice, But one question, Is it a giant octopus or a tiny human? Haha, good work!

I agree with the others, octopus is naturally the focus of the scene…too much emphasis on the coral head and fish. Nice job BTW :slight_smile:

RossBlenderArt, :yes: its a giant octops, other wise it would be a tiny human with tiny fishes around, a tiny scuba helmet and tiny corals :D.

wokjow, the idea was to focus on the scuba diver but i had to focus the coral and the fishes too because of the position of those.
