i am having a very strange problem

OK here it goes. When i try to run blender 2.28c or 2.3 the ms-dos prompt appears normally then it just stops the actual blender program never loads and i am getting no strange error messages at all any ideas?
your help will be greatly appreciated.

Try calling it from a console and see if it returns any error message.

this is gonna sound extremely stupid… how would i go about calling it from console. I havent played with anything but the standard stuff since i have been using it.

open a console, move to the directory where blender is and just type:

blender.exe

this should work

Martin

I’m not having a problem opening Blender or anything,…but,… could you dumb that down a bit? :expressionless: Are we talking a Python console? command window? How does one move to a directory from a console? :expressionless:

thanks for the help but so far all i am getting is more of the same. it still is just not running after the prompt and i am just getting my usual messages. thats why i didnt think i was doing the console right but i now know i was and it is just messed up.

could my video card’s driver files cause this? I think that might be my problem… hope i can find my original ones.

I think there is some record kept regarding video card conflicts. you might check .org.
<edit> (I still wish someone would tell me what the heck he is talking about.) :frowning:

yeah i checked the video card conflict page and ran the batch file that fixed the old problems, needless to say it didnt fix this. i am just gonna start back ath the begining and try and run back to where iwas with out problems

ok problem solved. thanks for all the help. you guys are the best

Modron, the console on Windows is the Command Line Prompt (Start menu > Programs > Accessories), A. You change directories with the CD command, like “CD my_docs” or “CD …” (goes one level up in the hierarchy).
On Linux there´s the BASH (Born Again SHell) and others, depending on the distro, I guess.
